Tier 1 – Entrepreneurs
Tier 1 -Entrepreneurs-Qualifying Criteria
In this category of Tier 1 applicants can apply to immigrate to the UK if they make a substantial investment, by starting or taking over control of a UK business.
Applicants still need to score 75 points and must be able to show that:
They have access to £200,000 = 25 points
This money must be held in a regulated bank account = 25 points
The money must be disposable in the UK = 25 points
It is important to note that applicants applying for this visa may not look for or undertake other employment in the UK; this visa is issued solely to those who are starting or taking over control of an existing UK business.
English Proficiency:
Under the points based system English language ability is an important factor for all applicants (except those applying under the Investor category). The language requirement requires a mandatory pass mark of 10 points.
Applicants must be able to show that:
They come from a country in which English is the main language
They have successfully completed an English language test which conforms to or exceeds level C1as defined by the Council of Europe’s Common European Framework for Language learning
They have successfully completed a Master’s degree course which was taught in English
Maintenance
Migrants relocating to the UK must be able to support themselves and any dependents joining them in the UK. The amount required to satisfy this requirement for the main applicant is £2,800, dependents need £1600.
All time spent in the UK on Tier 1 counts towards Permanent Residence. After the initial 3 year period you can extend this visa for a further 2 years, after which you will be able to apply for Permanent Residence.
